Hip & Joint 2.0 Frequently Asked Questions

Hip & Joint 2.0 is a daily chew designed to support joint health and mobility in active and aging dogs. It’s formulated to help maintain comfortable movement, flexibility, and overall joint function as dogs age or stay physically active.

Hip & Joint 2.0 was built with a higher bar. Instead of trendy ingredients or vague blends, we focused on purposeful ingredients, clear inclusion levels, and formulations developed alongside veterinary and nutrition experts.

We looked closely at what was missing in this category—under-dosed formulas, confusing claims, and little transparency—and made intentional choices to do better. The result is a daily chew designed to support joint health and mobility with clarity, care, and integrity.

Simply put: this is the supplement we wanted for our own dog, made with the same rigor we expect from products that truly matter.

The formula supports several systems involved in joint function, including joint lubrication, connective tissue health, and maintenance of a healthy inflammatory response. It’s designed for consistent daily use as part of a long-term approach to joint health, not as a medication or quick fix.

Daily dosage based on weight:

○ Up to 25 lbs: 1 chew

○ 26–75 lbs: 2 chews

○ Over 75 lbs: 3 chews

● Chews may be given all at once or split throughout the day.

Results are gradual. Many pet parents notice improvements in ease of movement or stiffness after about 4 weeks of consistent daily use. Individual results vary based on age, activity level, and overall health.

Hip & Joint 2.0 is intended for adult dogs, generally 12 months and older, once they’ve reached full skeletal maturity. Puppies should only use joint supplements if recommended by a veterinarian.

The natural scent comes from the Omega-3 fatty acids, which are sourced from anchovy oil. We prioritize ingredient integrity over masking aromas with artificial flavors. A mild fishy smell is normal and expected.

Our formula contains hydrolyzed chicken liver, not intact chicken protein, included at a minimal level in the inactive portion of the chew.

Hydrolyzed protein is broken down into very small peptides through a specialized process.
Because the protein is “pre-digested” into smaller fragments, it is much less likely to trigger an immune response compared to whole chicken ingredients.

That said, every dog is different. While many dogs with chicken sensitivities tolerate hydrolyzed protein well, we always recommend speaking with your veterinarian if your dog has a confirmed or severe chicken allergy.

We use hydrolyzed chicken liver strictly for palatability and digestibility, not as a primary protein source.

If you have specific concerns, our team is always happy to help.

The chews are formulated without wheat, corn, or soy. They do contain fish-derived ingredients and hydrolyzed chicken protein. If your dog has known sensitivities, review the ingredient list and consult your veterinarian.

Yes. Hip & Joint 2.0 is formulated for daily use as part of a long-term wellness routine. If your dog has a medical condition or is taking medication, consult your veterinarian before use.

Store in a cool, dry place away from heat and direct sunlight. Reseal the bag tightly after each use. No refrigeration required.

Hip & Joint 2.0 Chews are made in the USA. Our manufacturing facility meets some of the highest quality and safety standards in the pet health industry, certified by NASC and SQF, and complies with APHIS and FAMI-QS guidelines. These are standards that require strict quality controls, traceability, and regular third-party audits.

Absolutely. And the most important part of our formulation starts with what we didn’t include.

We intentionally left out two ingredients found in many dog joint supplements: glucosamine and chondroitin.

Not because they’re unsafe,  but because peer-reviewed studies show they do not meaningfully improve pain, mobility, or joint function in dogs with joint discomfort. Yet they’re still everywhere because they’re cheap to source, easy to market, and familiar to pet parents.

Here is the current peer-reviewed
research that informed this decision:

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/36142319/
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35958315/
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/36816197/

So instead of relying on outdated, low-signal ingredients, we rebuilt our formula around compounds with clearer biological roles and stronger scientific support.

Every ingredient below was chosen because it plays a direct, functional role in joint structure, lubrication, inflammation balance, or tissue resilience.  And because the science behind it is active, modern, and measurable.

Omega-3 Fatty Acids (200 mg EPA + DHA)

Peer-reviewed research →

Omega-3s are structural fatty acids that integrate directly into joint tissues and inflammatory pathways. EPA and DHA are widely studied for supporting a healthy inflammatory response and connective tissue integrity.

Why it matters: Our EPA + DHA levels are among the highest in a chew, because dose actually matters.

Green-Lipped Mussel

Peer-reviewed research →

Green-lipped mussel provides a naturally occurring matrix of omega fatty acids, glycosaminoglycans, and trace nutrients associated with joint structure and comfort.

Why it matters: It supports flexibility and range of motion through multiple complementary mechanisms, not a single legacy compound.

Krill Meal

Peer-reviewed research →

Krill delivers omega-3s in phospholipid form, which may improve utilization within tissues compared to triglyceride forms.

Why it matters: Better delivery means better functional support at the joint level, plus antioxidant activity.

Hyaluronic Acid

Peer-reviewed research →

Hyaluronic acid is a natural component of synovial fluid and connective tissue.

Why it matters: It supports lubrication, shock absorption, and smooth joint movement.
These are functions glucosamine was originally assumed to support, but never reliably proved to.

Astaxanthin

Peer-reviewed research →

Astaxanthin is a potent marine-derived antioxidant.

Why it matters: It helps protect joint and muscle cells from oxidative stress associated with normal activity and aging, supporting long-term mobility.

Ashwagandha

Peer-reviewed research →

Ashwagandha is an adaptogenic botanical studied for its role in physical resilience and muscle function.

Why it matters: Joint health isn’t just cartilage. Muscle support and stress response play a real role in how dogs move and age.

Zinc

Peer-reviewed research →

Zinc is an essential trace mineral involved in connective tissue formation and cellular metabolism.

Why it matters: It supports cartilage integrity and normal tissue repair as part of long-term joint structure maintenance.

Overall rating: 4.815 / 5 from 200 reviews.

The Little Chonk Hip &

"The Little Chonk Hip & Joint 2. 0 supplements have been a game changer for our active 11 year old corgi, George. He loves to play fetch and run, but often ends up limping afterwards due to arthritis pain. Just a month after starting Hip & Joint 2. 0, he’s no longer limping afterwards due to hard play. We’ve tried other supplements and even prescriptions, but nothing has helped as much as these have. Well worth the investment. #ballislife"

Juat started our 5 year

"Juat started our 5 year old cardigan Welsh corgi (CWC), Frankie, on the Hip & Joint 2. 0 supplement. Everything I've read about the research that went into creating it sounds amazing! I too, thought all of the most recommend supplements were the best, but i have much more confidence in THIS supplement. Our CWC likes the taste of them. At 30 lbs he gets 2/day: one with breakfast and one with dinner. I'll keep you folks posted. . ."

Great for all ages

"We originally got it for our 15 year old pomchi but the results were so great with her we started giving them to our other 3 dogs. Her 10 year old son, 8 year old aussie girl and our 3 year old jack Russell mix. They all love the taste and I've seen major differences in our two girls. They both have a more pep in their step. 100% recommend."

I have been giving these

"I have been giving these to my dogs for two months now. They both love the flavor and one is super picky, so that’s great! Neither of them has arthritis or joint issues, but both are considered seniors (one is 8 and one is 10) so I wanted to get ahead of any problems. I will keep giving these to them and will hopefully help them to keep mobility for a long time to come. I chose these because I love Maxine and Bryan and I believe that real work and science went into developing this product."

Kristina P. (5/5)

I've been feeding my dog

"I've been feeding my dog this supplement for only a few weeks so it's too soon to see the benefit yet, but I will say that this is the first vitamin/supplement that I haven't had to hide inside a treat or food for my dog to accept it. She eats it like a treat, and eagerly awaits her daily snack every day! That's already a plus in my book, and the fact that it has all those great ingredients is even better."

Maxine walks the walk with

"Maxine walks the walk with that great booty of her’s, and talks the talk with the Hip & Joint 2. 0! ABSOLUTELY AM AMAZED how well this has helped our 5 year old Pit/German Shepherd, Tucker! He went from a limp in his hip that was affecting his ability to walk n stand up to full blown WWE playing with our 1 yr. old pup, Arlo! Words cannot describe how grateful I am to this product. Went from trying the product to a monthly subscription in 2 1/2 weeks after seeing the results. THANK U MAX n BRIAN for this!! Tucker, Arlo and I sincerely THANK YOU!!🙏 ❤️"

Lisa M. (5/5)

We have tried so many

"We have tried so many joint supplements that have not provided relief for our now 12 year old Corgi. After only two weeks, we are seeing a significant improvement in his gait. Thank you for developing a product that actually works."

Christine T. (5/5)

We started our 12. 5 year

"We started our 12. 5 year old Cardigan Welsh Corgi on the advanced hip and joint support about two months ago. Her knee stiffness and limping has improved markedly, and Salsa is now back to leading zoomies with our much younger dogs!"

Rose S. (5/5)

I’ dissapointed. I did not

"I’ dissapointed. I did not receive my order. I contacted the customer service after I ordered it, they updated the address, because I entered it wrong. Then the item arrived to the wrong address. Since 1st May the customer service does not answer my emails. I’m dissapointed as I’ve been following Maxine’s and Brian’s journey 5 years ago and I was looking forward to give this to my 15 yrs old dachshund."

Dorottya F. (1/5)

So far I like them.

"So far I like them. My Corgi is 36 pounds and I am giving him two a day. Since taking these he has experienced a few days of diarrhea so I am watching him closely as I thought maybe starting out at two a day might be too much. I kept him off for two days and all is good, so gave him two today. He will be four on June 14th so I want to make sure he is around for many more years (healthy years!)."
